Loyalists "love the wake-up call service" that includes a "tray with hot chocolate, coffee or tea" at this Oak Brook spot 16 miles from Chicago, and they're also keen on the "convenience to shopping" at the nearby mall and the "beautiful", newly renovated rooms with "high-end bedding"; other pluses include a "great rooftop pool", free parking and decent dining, but techies tut "Internet should be included."

Hotel Guest Reviews of the Renaissance Chicago Oak Brook Hotel

Front desk does not know how to treat guests when problem arises.

That was a terrible way of handling issues, almost disrespectful. Inconvenience to the customer for the sake of process. I interacted with the front desk several times and since they did not ask, I presumed it was taken care of. This is the last time I stay in that hotel. I was also given a room for the handicapped though I have no disability. To sum up, terrible experience. ...read more

The color of the walls.

Convenient location, friendly, and attentive front desk staff.
Club 2100 closed by 10 am on a Friday 1/1. Bar staff not too friendly.

It was located very close to excellent restaurants.
The staff would not change our bed size without debate.

I felt that the front desk staff member was rude and lied when asked if it was possible to get a large bed. After talking to a manager we were finally given a king size bed.

Location. Business center.
Mold in shower. One double bed for two guests.

Lobby staff was friendly. Room was overall acceptable but disappointing, occupancy was low yet we were given a room with one double bed. Cleanliness needs attention, shower stall had mold.

The orange and lemon flavored water dispensers in various locations.
Toilet was an obvious ill-fit and caused flushing problems.

Location.
Housekeeping didn't always do a good job.

Can't beat the location and the staff was very helpful. The rooms are plain, but comfortable. Room service provides good food and service. I would not pay full price for this room, but is well worth the amount I paid. Will be staying there again next month. ...read more

The location was great - right next to lots of shopping.
No hot tub and no continental breakfast, coffee in the lounge ran out.`

The hotel was clean and neat, but a hotel of only 3 or 3 1/2 stars would have more to offer like indoor pool and hot tub, a free breakfast, and more. My friends and I were disappointed.

The room lay-out.
Our room stank of air freshener.

The hotel was very good. Some of front desk staff knew very little about the area. One of them was very loud and sounded very forced. Otherwise, they were helpful and pleasant. Our room was so heavily sprayed with air freshener that we had to complain about it. it triggered an asthma attack. They came to inspect and said, yes, it's air freshener. But the next day, the smell was still fairly strong. These days hotels shouldn't be spraying toxic chemicals around their rooms. Also they replaced our towels every day even though we hung them up and were happy to use them again, to save on hot water. They didn't seem ecologically savvy. But the overall feel of the place was very pleasant and clean. The location was not very convenient for us as we have a relative in IL who is no where near any hotels. So we had a 1/2 hour drive every day to see her. ...read more
